Shamanism: As Defined by Your Local Shaman - Lady Lighthouse

Hi Loves,

We wanted to write this post as a better way to describe what it is we do as a Shaman. If you do any type of searching on the web, you'll find various definitions for who a Shaman is, how one becomes a Shaman, and what type of plant medicine they may use. All of these are equally valid, however they do not fully represent our experience nor do they negate our or their validity.

What is a Shaman as defined by your local Shaman - Lady Lighthouse?

A Shaman is a truth seeker, a guide, a teacher, and a "seer". They have the ability to connect deeply with the Universe, see what others have yet to unlock, and share in their knowledge and gifts to those waking up.

They are healers, yet they don't physically heal you themselves. They open the door for your energy body to remember how to heal itself by helping get you tapped into your connection with Source.

They are humble with their gifts -- leading, teaching, and guiding from a place of service to a larger purpose. They do not boast, nor try to put others down below them.

They believe in the goodness of all. For we are all God's children, capable, and deserving of so much Love.

What is Shamanism as defined by your local Shaman - Lady Lighthouse?

Shamanism is the practice in which a practitioner, AKA a Shaman, interacts with Source and other Angels, Spirits, and Guides to bring forth healing, guidance, and support for the individual seeking on their life's journey.

What might you experience in working with your local Shaman, Lady Lighthouse?

Each journey and "medicine" is unique to you and your soul. We do not need to be in the same physical space for guidance or healing to take place. Virtual visits are just as potent (and maybe even more so because you can remain in the safety and comfort of your own home, so it is easier for your body to stay relaxed and integrate afterwards).

Tools we use include, but are not limited to:

  • Guiding breath
  • Inviting or playing sounds and music
  • Encouraging movements of various types
  • Consciousness journeying
  • Universal Life Force energy work (including the use of symbols and Light rays)
  • Channeling messages from our teams or past loved ones
  • Clothing and their colors
  • Other

Tools we do NOT use:

  • Drugs or Alcohol of any kind.
  • Plant medicine that may have a psychoactive component and response

How did you know you were a Shaman?

To be frank, I didn't know, until I did.

How did you become a Shaman?

I had been waking up to my gifts for sometime, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was picking up all of my gifts quite quickly, as I compared myself to the community of other intuitive individuals I was around at the time.

I was having more and more experiences, deeper meditations, wilder dreams, immense healing night after night, day after day. I had gotten to the point in my life where I was trusting Spirit's guidance, and was working with my energy each and every day. At first, Spirit said I was a Psychic Channeler -- a term I hadn't heard before and couldn't find a ton of information on. (Another sign that things were different).

I bought business cards with that title, and it felt good and exciting, but it also didn't feel like that was the final title for me. I didn't know what was, but I had a Knowing that it was going to change. I operated my business and offerings from that title for a couple months, until one day, I woke up and heard Spirit say "today is your Shamanic initiation". (I didn't question it much more than making sure I heard correctly, and that me and my body were safe a few times throughout. I Knew in my soul that this was right and an exciting and blessed day).

I was fatigued. All day. I spent close to 9 hours in meditation over the course of the full day -- each time with new information and gifts being shown, new energy work being done, new places being traveled. I'd return to attend to my human body's needs, and then go back into meditation and stillness.

By the time I awoke the following day, I knew the bulk of the work was done, and I just needed to allow the shift in energy to integrate a little longer.

I was back on my feet and ready to start this new chapter within 36hrs.

Addressing the skeptics

I can hear the skeptics saying, "so you are telling me you call yourself a Shaman because you heard "God" tell you you are a Shaman and then you meditated for a day?"

Yes.

Can anyone become a Shaman?

Yes and No. If it is your soul's path in this lifetime, then yes!

Could anyone technically just call themselves a Shaman if they wanted to?

Also Yes. I can't, nor can anyone else, stop you from claiming any particular title you want to claim.

So how do we know who is a real Shaman and who is trying to scam me out of my money?

That is where learning to trust your mind, body, and intuition is key. Being skeptical is a good thing -- that is your body's way of keeping you safe and protected from potential danger that could come your way. Only you can discern for yourself what feels best for you.

What should I consider when looking for a real Shaman?

  • Messaging. This will be the biggest give away in finding the right person for you. Is their messaging empowering and focused on your autonomy, or is making you feel afraid that you are broken?
    • A real Shaman wants to see you succeed and empower you to live the best life you can by sharing what they can.
    • For example, here is a gentle, 10-question quiz to help you uncover the areas of your life yearning for more Love with lots of great resources provided on the results page.
  • Location. Are you someone who wants to be in-person or visit with a Shaman virtually? Both can bring forth the Love and "medicine" you are seeking. This is really up to your preference.
    • We offer both in-person and virtual options over on our Services page.
  • Accessibility. How open to sharing their resources and being of service are they? Is access to them behind a large paywall?
    • We share our gifts and messages of Love on Twitch multiple times a week (no purchase required).
