Why "stripper heels"?

Tall heels can be and symbolize so much. 

For starters, wearing a tall heel forces you to slow down and really be in your body - acting as an instant embodiment tool. They force you to pay attention to your balance and the present moment instead of your judgmental and critical thoughts -- mindfulness!

Next, they elongate your gorgeous, sexy legs. There is so much power and ownership in owning these parts of your body. I know I was shamed growing up for how long my legs were, anyone else? Now I show my legs off as much or as little as I want, not how much anyone else decides I should show. 

They can also be a reclamation and liberation tool from so much shame, hatred, and disgust. When you read "stripper heels", how did you react? Were you excited to read more, or were you instantly turned off and appalled? Neither is wrong, simply notice where you are.

When I first started my journey, I felt embarrassed to be even considering buying "stripper heels". What would X person think of me? Are people going to look at me if I wear these out? Will I become a sex worker or be viewed as one? yadda yadda yadda, I could go on, but I don't want to. Those thoughts didn't serve me. They held me back from reclaiming a part of myself I didn't realize I was beating up -- my sexuality and sensuality. 

The thing is, these tall heels, while not always practical for everyday use (though I have worn them all out on different occasions now), bring out different aspects of your body and your beauty. The pink sparkly ones invite me to be fun, girly, and playful. My black strappy boots ignite me to go to war. My little black booties make me feel classically sexy like Christina Aguilera in the movie Burlesque. 

They are all fun to play with, so I invite you to experiment!

A few things worth noting from my experience:

• The shoes don't come in half sizes. I'm typically an 8.5 tennis shoe and like a 7.5 heel. I primarily order 8's and make sure the shoes have adjustment features like laces or buckles to help fit my foot best. I've tried ordering 7's and they are just too small and tight on my feet, so I have sent them all back. 
• There are techniques to stretch and break in your shoes that you can find online. The main one I've tried is using thick socks, and a blow dryer haha. I have only done it once though. I am not wearing them for more than a couple hours at a time, so I haven't had any major problems with them that adjusting the laces, buckles or my socks didn't fix. (Sometimes I'll wear thicker socks and sometimes I'll need to wear thinner socks. It just depends on comfort). 
• A shoe that goes over the ankle is going to give you more ankle support, but less range of movement for foot accents. My ankles and feet prefer more support over the ability to be a bit more expressive. The shoes themselves are expressive enough ;)
